GSDMSFI PUSH Leads Community Health Initiative for World Pharmacists Day

In celebration of World Pharmacists Day, the Pharmacy Department of General Santos Doctors’ Medical School Foundation, Inc. (GSDMSFI) launched a community health outreach program aimed at promoting safe and responsible medication use among local workers. The activity provided free over-the-counter (OTC) medicines to vendors, tricycle drivers, maintenance personnel, and campus security staff, acknowledging their indispensable role in the community.

As part of the initiative, Pharmacy students conducted brief yet comprehensive health education sessions emphasizing the proper use of OTC drugs, dosage awareness, and the importance of seeking guidance from licensed healthcare professionals. The activity underscored the department’s commitment to strengthening public health literacy and ensuring safe self-medication practices.

The outreach was led by Ms. Janne Paulyne Libunao, RPh, PharmD, together with third- and fourth-year Pharmacy students who actively participated in distribution and education efforts. Their involvement demonstrated professionalism, compassion, and dedication to community service—reflecting the institution’s core values and the ethical standards of the pharmacy profession.

This meaningful engagement highlighted the vital role of pharmacists in safeguarding public health and provided students with tangible experience in community-based healthcare promotion. Through initiatives like this, GSDMSFI continues to shape future healthcare professionals grounded in service, responsibility, and a commitment to improving community well-being.
