General Santos Doctors’ Medical School Foundation, Inc. (GSDMSFI) formally opened the first day of its Faculty Development Program with the theme “Global Strategies: Best Practices in Internationalization and World Rankings.” The event, held at the GSDMSFI AVR, gathered faculty members for a full-day learning session focused on strengthening academic quality, digital infrastructure, and institutional competitiveness.
Mr. Bryan Lloyd P. Bretaña, MSc, Rmicro, Associate Professor V of the Department of Biological Sciences, College of Science and Mathematics and Director of the Office of International Affairs at the University of Southern Mindanao, served as the keynote speaker. He shared valuable insights on internationalization strategies and world university rankings, emphasizing how local institutions can benchmark against global standards to enhance visibility and academic reputation.

The seminar also featured practical tips and reminders on digital innovation and web enhancement. Professor Eugene Ranjo, Director of the University Information and Communication Technology Office, and Professor Alvin Mibalo, Senior Web Developer of USM, facilitated sessions on web development and institutional digital strengthening. These sessions aimed to equip faculty members with the tools to improve online presence, streamline digital platforms, and adapt to modern educational technologies.
This event marks the beginning of a two-day series of Faculty Development activities designed to prepare GSDMSFI faculty for the challenges of international education and to foster a culture of innovation, inclusivity, and global engagement.
